Change of guard in babudom, Arvind Jadhav to take charge

KAT chairman will take over from outgoing CS Kaushik Mukherjee today.

Bengaluru: Senior IAS officer Arvind Jadhav will take over as the new Chief Secretary of Karnataka from Kaushik Mukherjee on Thursday.
Mr. Jadhav a 1978 batch officer, is the Chairman of Karnataka Appellate Tribunal. Outgoing Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee is retiring on December 3. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has considered Mr Jadhav for the top post considering his seniority.
Mr Jadhav will be retired on June 5, 2016. Before being appointed as Chairman of the KAT, Mr Jadhav was holding the office of Chairman and Managing Director of National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL).
The Chief Secretary designate graduated from Kanpur University with English, Economics, History as his subjects. His first posting was Assistant Commissioner, Mysuru. He has also served as Managing Director, Karnataka Silk Marketing Board, Managing Director, Mysore Minerals Ltd, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Power, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure Development Department.
Mr Jadhav was born on June 5, 1956 to a Marathi family in Uttar Pradesh. Along with Marathi, Kannada, Hindi and English, he is also fluent in foreign languages like French and German.
The appointment process of the new chief secretary had generated a lot of speculation with the names of senior officers Rathnaprabha and V. Umesh doing the rounds.
There were also reports that the Veerashaiva Mahasabha had favoured the appointment of Mr Umesh to the top post and that Mr Siddaramaiah had found a convenient reason-seniority- to bypass their demand.
