BMTC, BMRCL go extra mile to drop revellers home

Around 50 new buses were added to the night routes.

Bengaluru: Here is good news for all those who want to celebrate the New Year and do not want to drive after the celebrations. Both The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have decided to continue their services till early morning on Friday to facilitate the people in reaching their homes safely. Both BMTC and BMRCL will operate their special services till 2 AM on Friday night.

According to the BMTC officials, the Corporation has decided to extend the existing BIG-10 services from 10.30 PM till 2 AM on Friday, from M.G. Road to different parts of the city.

Extensive coverage: With BIG-10 bus routes covering major routes/destinations of the city, BMTC’s decision to operate these schedules till 2 AM will help the passengers immensely. “Every day we conclude these services by 10.30 PM. But keeping in mind the people expected to turn up for the New Year celebrations at MG Road and Brigade Road, we have decided to operate our services till early morning on Friday,” informed an officer.

Major routes covered through BIG-10 buses include MG Road to Sarjapura (G-2), Brigade Road to Electronic City (G-33), Brigade Road to Bannerghatta National Park (G-4), MG Road Metro station to Kengeri Housing Board Quarters ( G-6), MG Road metro station to Janapriya township (G-7), MG Road to Nelamangala (G-8) , MG Road Metro station to Yelahanka (G-9), MG Road Metro station to R.K. Hegde nagar (G-10), MG Road Metro station to Bagalur (G-11) and MG Road Metro station to Hoskote (G-11)).

According to BMTC officials, besides these BIG-10 buses, all the other night shift schedules of the corporation will be operated as per schedule. Speaking to this newspaper a senior officer from the BMTC informed that recently around 50 new buses were added to the night routes and all these services will available to the people to celebrate the New Year.

BMRCL operations: According to BMRCL spokesperson Vasanth Rao all the Metro services will also be available till 2 AM on Friday morning. These services include MG Road to Baiyappanahalli, Mantri Mall Sampige Road to Nagasandra and between Magadi Road and Mysuru Road.
