Bengaluru: Party on, cops keeping eagle eye
Bengaluru: On the occasion of the New Year’s Eve, the central division police including the Cubbon Park and the Ashok Nagar police have made elaborate security arrangements on M.G. Road and Brigade Road to make the New Year’s Eve festivities incident-free.
“As thousands of revelers will gather on M.G. Road, Brigade Road and other nearby surrounding streets to celebrate the New Year, a good number of policemen have been deployed to maintain law and order and ensure safety of the revelers, especially women,” said a senior police officer.
Security arrangements will be supervised and monitored by senior police officers, who have deployed 10 officers of the rank of Assistant Commissioner, along with 24 Inspectors, 65 Sub-Inspectors, 252 Head Constables, 503 Constables, 43 cops in plain clothes, 12 battalion of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) and two Quick Response Teams (QRTs) for maintaining law and order during the New Year festivities on M.G. Road and Brigade Road and the surrounding streets in Central Bengaluru.
Watering holes and eateries
All eateries, pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants, hotels can remain open until 1 am. The owners of hotels, malls, clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants have been directed to appoint additional security staff especially the ones in and around M.G. Road and Brigade Road in Central Bengaluru.
Revellers visiting M.G. Road and Brigade Road will have to go through two door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) as well as hand-held metal detectors at two designated spots on M.G. Road, one installed at the Anil Kumble circle and the other at the Cauvery Emporium. Crowd entering Brigade Road from both the sides of M.G. Road will have to pass through the two DFMDs and then go through Brigade Road which will be unidirectional. Entry from Church Street and Rest House Road to Brigade Road will be prohibited
10 watchtowers
Ten watchtowers with two policemen on top of each tower equipped with night vision binoculars, video camera and a firearm will be set up at M.G. Road and Brigade Road for monitoring the crowd and to keep a watch on trouble makers. The police have also installed some additional CCTV cameras, along with the existing ones that have been installed by private establishments on Brigade Road and M.G. Road and will use both for monitoring the crowd
Anyone involved in eve-teasing or misbehaviour will be dealt by the police stringently. If anyone comes across suspicious activity or find anybody violating laws can call the police control room dialing 100/103. Do not disturb your neighbours or others people in the name of celebrations
If anyone under the influence of alcohol or otherwise creates nuisance, damage vehicles or resort to brawls or hooliganism, they will be dealt by the police stringently
