Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped as many 24 government officials of various departments in the year 2015, according to DSP Mr V. Gopala Krishna. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Gopala Krishna said that public cooperation is needed for nabbing more corrupt officials. He said three officials were booked for disproportionate assets and several surprise checks were conducted.
In all, panchayat raj department proved to be more corrupt with eight officials caught accepting bribe. It is followed by the revenue department and municipal administration in which five and four officials respectively were charged for corruption. “Public awareness is a priority to us as most of the complainants come to us after bribing the corrupt officials. Only when they approach ACB before they bribe them, it would be a possible to trap the accused and such cases will withstand the investigation. Toll free number 1064 is available for the people to complain,” Mr Krishna added.
