Can your son cook?
“Paapa, sirf samosa khilake kaise decide karloon ki zindagi isike saath bithani hain?” asks Regina Cassandra in a video that is going viral. Her dad only replies, “Jaldi aana.”
Currently viewed over 255,743 times, the video follows Regina as she goes to meet the person her parents have chosen for her. And she is more than thrilled to have worked on the video. “I was excited when I heard the script because it was so refreshing. The team sent me a story board and I loved the idea! In India arranged marriages are one of the most common things and the way the video played out was a much-needed change from what otherwise happen.”
The father in the video comes across as a very strict man and that is what the team was trying to portray. “The way the father was portrayed made people believe that he was a very strict person who wouldn’t listen to his daughter... that brought in the surprise element.”
The second half of the video is where the surprising part arrives. After all the formalities, Regina’s father asks the boy’s parents if he can cook. On finding out that the boy can only make instant noodles, he refuses to get his daughter married. But the boy asks him to visit their home after 10 days so that he can learn how to cook. “The aim of the video was to bring about an important point of change through a feel-good video. Who’s to say, maybe tomorrow a father or a boy who is about to get married will also think twice and change the way they think,” she says.
