China will provide 1.4 million litres of fuel to Nepal, says Thapa
A commercial deal to import fuel is expected to be signed soon.
Kathmandu: Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa has said that the Government of China will provide 1.4 million litres of fuel to Nepal in grant.
According to The Kathmandu Post, China earlier donated 1.3 litres of petrol to Nepal to ease the fuel shortage in the country due to Indo-Nepal border blockade.
Nepal Oil Corporation had brought the fuel granted by the northern neighbour from Kerung.
A commercial deal to import fuel from China is expected to be signed soon. It is expected to end the four-decade monopoly of India to export oil to Nepal.
Thapa said that they had cleared the way to import fuel from China on a permanent basis.
