Notice to lamakaan revoked
Hyderabad: After the online rage by Hyderabadis against the GHMC notice to Lamakaan, the corporation has decided to revoke the notice.
The outburst was not only by commoners but also by none other than Hyderabad's MP Mr Asaduddin Owaisi who posted three Tweets, one of which read: “Have spoken to the GHMC Central Zone Add Comm & lodged my strongest protest on it and asked to W/Draw closure notice”(sic).
Mr Owaisi’s Tweets got a quick reply from minister for information technology K.T. Rama Rao: “Will take it up with GHMC MP Saab”(sic). Sources meanwhile said that the real reason for the notice was some annoyed neighbours of Lamakaan, especially one who lives opposite.
A resident said, “As Lamakaan is visited by many people but lacks a parking lot, the neighbour got annoyed with visitors parking on the kerb. Another reason for the neighbour’s annoyance is public smoking by visitors, especially women.”
In fact there are two boards outside the neighbour’s house, one warning people that tires of their vehicles will be deflated if they park near his house and another proclaiming that smoking is strictly prohibited five metres around the house.
Meanwhile a senior City Planning official of GHMC said: “Only the police can issue a notice for creating nuisance or disturbing the public, not GHMC."
