It’s Siddaramaiah’s vengeance politics: BJP leader Sriramulu

Sriramulu accused Siddaramaiah of using the Lokayukta institution to finish off his and Mr Reddy’s political careers.

Ballari: Soon after the Lokayukta police raided former minister and beleaguered mine lord G. Janardhan Reddy’s residence here on Tuesday, his close aide and Ballari BJP MP B. Sriramulu vent his ire against the Chief Minister, alleging that Mr Siddaramaiah is indulging in ‘vengeance politics’.

Mr Sriramulu came down heavily against Mr Siddaramaiah, accusing him of using the Lokayukta institution to finish off his and Mr Reddy’s political careers.

After letting loose the CBI, Income Tax department and Lokayukta SIT against Mr Reddy, the Congress-led state government is now using the Lokayukta to go after Mr Reddy, he said. “It has now become common for the Congress to conduct raids on us ahead of every election,” he said.

“Earlier, I too aspired to see backward community leader Siddaramaiah becoming a chief minister. But we have suffered more under his government than under the rule of upper caste chief ministers,” he said.

“The chief minister pretends to be a paragon of virtue, while his close family members are involved in ‘sand mafia’. We will approach the court seeking a CBI probe into sand mafia and the involvement of the chief minister’s children and close associates,” he said.

“What is left with us to conduct raids? Already several investigation agencies have conducted raids and the Lokayukta SIT, probing illegal mining, has booked 14 FIRs against Mr Janardhan Reddy. If Mr Siddaramaiah wants, he can bulldoze our houses and push on to the street,” he said.

New Fir filed

Bengaluru Lokayukta police raided G. Janardhan Reddy after filing a new FIR against him for amassing disproportionate assets. The new FIR has been registered under Section 13(1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and gives the Lokayukta the powers to attach Mr Reddy’s assets, said sources in the anti-corruption body.
