Goldsmiths called to assess Reddy wealth
Ballari: Charging former minister and mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy with accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources income when he was an MLC and minister in the previous BJP government, Lokayukta sleuths simultaneously raided seven premises belonging to him across the state.
As many as 42 Lokayukta sleuths, headed SP Sonia Narang, started searching the two residences of Mr Reddy and the office of his Obulapuram Mining Company here from morning 8 am, and the search continued till evening 5 pm.
Sleuths summoned goldsmiths to assess the quality and quantity of gold seized from his residence. Besides, they summoned income tax officials to verify his bank documents and other financial transactions.
Sources said Mr Reddy floated nearly 11 benami companies and amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources by conducting illegal businesses through these benami companies.
It is alleged that he had conducted fictitious transactions through Muddati Properties, Tubler Rivits, Parijatha Apartments, Ennoble Corporation, Ennoble Chit Funds, Ennoble Resorts, Ennoble India Hotel, Ennoble Constructions, Ennoble Business Centre, Ennoble Liaisoning Centre, Raghavendra Business Ltd etc.
