Fresh from yagam, K Chandrasekhar Rao back at work with gusto

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was back to work on Tuesday, the Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam at his Erravalli farmhouse keeping him away from the Secretariat for nearly a month.
He will convene the first Cabinet meeting in the New Year on January 2 followed by TRSLP meeting the next day.
Coming close to the GHMC polls, the Cabinet is likely to take important decisions on the sops that are planned to be extended to city voters like waiver of water and domestic electricity bills for the poor and construction of 2BHK houses in the city. The meeting is also likely to discuss other developmental programmes in Hyderabad and preparations for the GHMC polls, it is learnt.
Mr Rao, who is also the president of the TRS, has also convened the TRS Legislature Party meeting on January 3 to lay a roadmap for the GHMC polls and discuss party strategy.
Besides ministers and legislators, he has also invited MPs and other prominent party leaders.
Since Tuesday morning, the CM was seen discussing pending issues with officials of various departments, including of the finance department on Budget proposals and minority affairs.
The government is keen on taking up cost-effective barrages, pending irrigation projects across Godavari and Krishna. Change of design of the Pranahita-Chevella project and others which will also figure in the Cabinet meeting.
Mr Rao will undertake a whirlwind tour of Warangal district on January 4 and 5, during which he will launch the 600 mw KTPS stage-II power project at Bhupalapally, review with the collector and other officials the progress on the textile park, Mission Bhagiratha, development of Warangal city, 2BHK houses, repairs to Kakatiya canal, arrangements for Sammakka Sarakka jatra next year etc.
Mr Rao and Union minister Radhamohan Singh will lay the foundation stone for forest academy at Mulug named after freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji on January 7.
