Select right varsity, says Ashok Gajapathi Raju
Hyderabad: Union civil aviation minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju said students travelling abroad should prepare themselves well and opt for reputed university to avoid landing in trouble on foreign soil.
Speaking at the Shamshabad airport, he said the Indian government does not stop anyone from travelling to any country for education. It is up to the destination country to receive them or not.
“Like the Union home ministry denies visas to many foreigners, each country has its own ways of handling such issues,” he added.
He was responding to queries on students being deported from the US, and many not being allowed to board flights. The minister said Air India staff at San Francisco had communicated to their Indian counterparts about communication received from the US to stop students coming to join the Silicon Valley Univer-sity and North West Polytechnic University.
The government does not want students to go through a harrowing experience. The deported students were given ‘potential immigrant’ visa instead of ‘student visa,’ he said.
