KOCHI: Setting a new trend in New Year celebrations, an alcohol-free DJ party titled 'Subodham - Viva La Vida' will be organised at Durbar Hall Ground in Kochi on December 31.
The gala high-voltage party, being organised by Subodham, a government campaign against drugs and alcohol abuse in association with Media Island, will be the major attraction for families and other party lovers who want to enjoy without alcohol.
Popular DJs like Savio, Ram Nair and Sekhar will lead the 30,000 watts high decibel party. People will be allowed to enter only after checking them with a breath analyser. Entry to the venue is free.
“Instead of beverages, we will provide special mocktails called magic drinks and snacks to nearly 2000 people who are expected to join the unique celebration. We approached the government to be a partner of the event as our objective is to spread the message against alcohol and substance abuse," said actor Raveendran, organiser of the event.
Director of Subodham, Dr. K. Ambadi took special interest in organizing the unique event. “Several families and prominent personalities have complimented the concept as it provides women and children an opportunity to celebrate New Year without fearing the menace of alcohol. Except liquor, the programme will have all other entertainment elements of a New Year party," he added.
The district administration and police are supporting the initiative. Media Island is associating with the event as part of their upcoming Kochi Metro Short Film Fest as part of which tech, management, music, fashion, food, auto fests will be organised.
