Idyllic settings envisaged for Amaravati landmarks

The government areas will have central library, stadium, zoo, expo centre etc.

Hyderabad: Amaravati will have several landmark features like gardens by the River Krishna, theme park, iconic towers and the Amaravati spiritual centre dotting the capital city.

According to the master plan, gardens by the river will be a combination of traditional and modern landscape, including botanical gardens, which will occupy 95 hectares on the island. A 75-hectare water and land-based theme park has been planned for one of the islands in the midst of the Krishna River.

According to AP municipal administration minister P. Narayana, the Amaravati Spiritual Centre will be located at the termination point of the Kondaveeti Vagu near the river, forming an ideal setting for the iconic towers.

“The Amaravati plaza will be framed with a backdrop of two iconic towers, which will be the tallest buildings in the capital city. The access road arriving from Undavalli will form a one km-long tunnel through the hills in order to tap on to the NH-5,” Mr Narayana said.

Located along the waterfront, the Sports City hub with a core area of 100 ha will have the capacity to host Olympic-level events, as per the master plan.

The government areas will have central library, stadium, zoo, expo centre etc.
