Cement firms agree to contribute for capital

Cement companies have accepted to supply 9.1 million tonne cement.
Vijayawada: AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the cement companies have accepted to supply 9.1 million tonne cement for construction works of government departments with lesser prices than market price.
Participating in the Cabinet sub-committee meet wherein matters like control of cement prices, reopening of jute mills were discussed on Monday, Mr Ramakrishnudu said that the cement companies would supply PPC variety for Rs 240 and OPC variety for Rs 250.
He said that the government is also providing various subsidies for industries, while the cement companies have the responsibility to supply cement with concession prices.
He said that the cabinet sub-committee had recommended to the cabinet for extending encouragement including removing of CST tax. Especially, the government would take steps to pay the dues of sugar factories for farmers.
The government would also write letter to the Centre seeking relaxation of central excise rules. Minister P. Pulla Rao and several officials were present.
