Bengaluru: Rs 1.86 crore assets recovered by Lokayukta police

The raids were conducted on the residences of Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Vigilance Squad, and Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector.

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police conducted simultaneous raids on the houses of two officials in the city on Monday morning, and uncovered disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.86 crore. The raids were conducted on the residences of Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Vigilance Squad, Bharathesh, and Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector at Jayanagar RTO M. Jayaram.

The police, launching the raids early on Monday morning, swooped down on the house of Bharathesh in Seshadripuram and the residence of Jayaram in Chikkalasandra.

The police found that Bharathesh had properties worth Rs 86 lakh and Jayaram Rs 1 crore that are disproportionate to their known sources of income. Cases have been registered against both the officials under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigations are on.
