Sri Lankan President wants Enrique Iglesias’ show organisers whipped with stingray tails
The President was outraged at female fans throwing their bras at the singer.
Mumbai: Latino singer Enrique Iglesias has created quite a stir Sri Lanka, that the country's president Maithripala Sirisena, has called for his concert organisers to be "whipped" with stingray tails. The singer, who is on his ‘Sex and Love’ world tour, held a concert in the country's capital Colombo, last week.
Sirisena was outraged by reports of women removing their bras, and throwing it at the singer. Videos from the concert even show women running up to the star to hug and kiss him. The 64-year-old president claims that such “uncivilised” behaviour went against the nation's "culture".
According to Hollywood website TMZ, Sirisena says, "I don't advocate that these uncivilized women who removed their brassieres should be beaten with toxic stingray tails, but those who organized such an event should be."
The organisers later sent out an apology for the "negative experience" and said that security had "failed alarmingly." This apology didn’t go out to the president in particular, but to all the fans who were outraged by the unruly behaviour.
