BSE IPO index sees 2-digit rise
Mumbai: Riding on the impressive performance registered by newly-listed companies, the BSE IPO index has emerged as the biggest gainer in 2015. With an annual return of 18.33 per cent, the BSE IPO index is the only index, which has posted a double-digit return in this calendar year.
The strong rally in the IPO index was mainly due to impressive debut made by a couple of quality IPOs. As against this, the Sensex has slumped 5.32 per cent in the period.
“The stellar performance by the IPO index in 2015 reflects the quality of issuances in the primary market. Most of the companies, which have given impressive listing day and post listing gains, were those with strong earnings growth potential and leading market share position in their respective sectors,” said Ajay Bodke, CEO of Prabhudas Lilladher.
While the shares of VRL Logistics has gained 99.80 per cent after its listing in April this year, the shares of recently listed companies like Alkem Labs, Dr Lal Pathlabs, SH Kelkar and Interglobe Aviation are trading at a premium of 44.93 per cent, 62.48 per cent, 32.11 per cent and 52.19 per cent respectively.
