Woman hangs 2 children, self in Kaverinagar

The deceased, Veena, was married to Krishna, 33, who runs a recreational club in Mahadevpura.
BENGALURU: A 27-year-old woman hanged her six-year-old daughter and two-year-old son before hanging herself at their residence in Kaverinagar under Mahadevapura police limits on Saturday.
The deceased, Veena, was married to Krishna, 33, who runs a recreational club in Mahadevpura.
The bodies of their children were identified as daughter Rashi, 6, and son Harshit, 2, who were hanged with the help of a plastic rope from the ceiling.
Veena had married Krishna around six years ago. The incident came to light around 4.30 pm on Sunday, when Krishna returned home from work.
The parents and relatives of the deceased were informed by the police after which they rushed to the police station to lodge a complaint. The police questioned Krishna to find out as to why Veena took such an extreme step.
According to the police, Krishna, who runs a club as a joint venture with one of his friends, had left for the club around 11 am. When he returned home around 4.30 pm and rang the door bell there was no response. When no one responded after repeated knocks, Krishna checked with the neighbours if his wife had gone out, but no one could confirm.
Suspecting something amiss, Krishna called for help and with the aid of neighbours managed to break open the house’s main door, and found his two children hanging with his wife. He rushed Veena and the children to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead. Immediately, the police were informed after which they rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Bowring Hospital for the postmortem.
The police did not find a note. They suspect domestic violence could be the reason behind the suicides.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death.
