Separatist outfit asks people to stay away from New Year celebrations in J&K

No place for celebrating events like New Year in Islam, said Aasiya Andrabi.

Srinagar: Separatist outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Sunday asked people to stay away from New Year celebrations, alleging they were part of RSS' plan to export "lewd" culture into Kashmir.

"A night-long programme is being organised by some unknown group 'Kashmiryat' on December 31 at (famous ski resort of) Gulmarg. It is a cultural onslaught, these programs are being organised under an agenda devised by RSS to thrust upon Kashmir, the shameless and lewd culture of India," Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi said in a statement here.

Andrabi said the program is being sponsored by few Urdu and English dailies and TV channels and in the name of art, music and comedy, "shameless" actors of Bollywood have been invited.

"It is a clear attempt to counter the Islamic ideology of Kashmiris," she said urging people to remain away from such programmes at any cost.

She said that the real culture of Kashmir is related to Islam where there is no place to celebrate events like new year.

"These events can be important for the 'Brahman' culture but they do not have any connection with Islam. This program is not a 'parwaaz' (flight) of Kashmir but the parwaaz of a vulture which is always destined towards filth," she said.
