Bengaluru: Pervert clicking women caught on Commercial Street
The police booked the accused, Manoj Roy, who hails from Kolkata, on charges of eve-teasing.
Bengaluru: A 40-year-old pervert, who secretly clicked photos of women on the street, was chased and caught by a 24-year-old journalist after he allegedly clicked her photograph on Commercial Street on Saturday.
The police booked the accused, Manoj Roy, who hails from Kolkata, on charges of eve-teasing. He was reportedly working with a sales and marketing company in Chennai for the last six years and had moved to the city only a month ago. He was staying at a rented house in Kamakshipalya.
The woman journalist, who was with her three friends, noticed the man approaching her from the opposite direction and clicking her pictures on his mobile phone around 4.45 pm.
As the camera flash went off, he reportedly tried to escape but the woman ran after him, screaming at him to stop.
As he started running, the woman caught up with him near Krishnaiah Chetty showroom and snatched his phone. She opened the phone and was shocked to find nearly 25 photos of women that he had clicked on the same street in the last few hours.
As the journalist started shouting at him, a crowd gathered, and she informed a traffic constable who was passing by. He immediately alerted the law-and-order police and took the accused to the Commercial Street police station.
The police summoned the relatives of the accused, who produced some documents to prove that he was under treatment for depression.
“He was booked for eve-teasing and was let off with a stern warning,” the police said.
