Bengaluru: 6-month-old murder cracked, two held

The police found the body of an unidentified man at Bhuvanahalli in Devanahalli on June 12.
Bengaluru: A tag on collar of the shirt bearing the name of the tailor helped Devanahalli police crack a six-month-old murder case. The police have since arrested the two accused.
The police found the body of an unidentified man at Bhuvanahalli in Devanahalli on June 12. They could not establish the identity of the deceased as he had not carried any documents.
The investigation team noticed a tag of the tailor shop attached to the deceased shirt collar and subsequently learnt that the tailor was from Chintamani in Kolar. A police team was sent to Kolar to collect information and identified the deceased as Krishnappa, a resident of Nanjappa Cross in Chintamani and a hotel employee.
The police found that Krishnappa had a relationship with a woman and her daughter which proved fatal. The younger woman became pregnant and her mother learnt that Krishnappa was two-timing her.
The woman got the daughter married off to her distant relative and a labourer, also named Krishnappa. But he learnt that the woman was pregnant before marriage and forced her to reveal the truth. The younger woman told him that she was carrying the child of her mother’s boyfriend, the police said.
Enraged, the woman’s husband hatched a plan to murder Krishnapaa. He along with his friend Suresh called Krishnappa to Bhuvanahalli and bludgeoned him to death by hitting him with stones and iron rods. The duo, who have been arrested, have confessed to the crime.
