Poor Karnataka farmer offers Rs 1 lakh to trace missing son

His 16-year-old son has been missing since September 28 last year.

Bengaluru: For over a month now, railway officials have noticed with some irritation that hand-written pamphlets have cropped up all over the city railway station. When they looked closely, they saw that it was a desperate father putting up notices for information on his missing son.

On Saturday, Deccan Chronicle caught up with the father, Mr Erri Swamy, a farmer from Kolagallu village in Bellary. "My son K. Swamy is 16, he has been missing since September 28 last year", Erri Swamy said, fighting off tears.

"My son was out playing that evening, but for some reason things soured and he had a verbal duel with a few of his friends. He came home, but went out in a huff again. He has been missing since then", Mr. Swamy said. Mr Swamy has since searched for him all over Karnataka, Andhra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

"I have another son and daughter, and we are all fine, but we all miss him terribly. That's why I am continuing my search", he said, battling a sense of hopelessness. “As a final effort, I am pasting these notices in rail and bus stations, asking people to help me find him. I am a poor farmer, but I am offering one lakh rupees as prize money. I want my son back".
