Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Saturday banned the use of firecrackers on New Year's eve. In an order, Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand said that the Outer Ring Road would be closed from 11 pm on December 31 to 5. am of January 1 for general public except bonafide passengers to the RGI airport.
All flyovers in Cyberabad will also be closed. Mr Anand said a massive drive to check vehicles would be launched on the night of December 31 to crack down of drugs and drunk driving.
The police has also asked event organisers to take permission at least a day before the event. They have to take special permission from the local station house officer if there is a DJ programme included in the event.
Police said the New Year’s eve parties have to begin at 8 pm and end by 1 am. “Admission to these party venues should be through invitation. No general public shall be allowed. Only registered members and their acquaintances, who are couples, are permitted. No single person (male or female) shall be allowed to enter the venue,” Mr Anand said.
The commissioner warned against drunk driving and law violations in drunk condition. “Massive vehicle checking will be carried out on the ORR and other highways for drunken driving.
The event organisers also should make sure the revellers are not driving their vehicles in inebriated condition,” Mr Anand said. The commissioner added that firearms should not be allowed inside the party premises, even if the holders have valid licence for the arms.
