Don’t fault us on Simbu, SIAA tells Radhikaa
Showcause notice to actor.
Chennai: The Nadigar Sangam has resolved to serve a show cause notice on Radhikaa Sarath Kumar seeking her explanation as to why she was speaking ill of the association over the Simbu ‘beep’ song controversy.
She had said the association was keeping quiet despite the fact that it was making all efforts to help Simbu, the sangam secretary, Vishal, said. The resolution was among the few adopted at the recently concluded executive committee meeting here.
“We don’t have any grudge against Simbu. I and Karthi spoke to Simbu regarding this issue and Nasser sir and Poanvannan sir also spoke to T.Rajhender sir. When it had hurt so many people’s sentiments, we advised Simbu to apologise for it and said thereafter we are ready to take up the issue. But he wanted to face it legally. Even now, we are ready to do our best. But now that it is in the court, we cannot comment as it will become contempt of court.
“Many ask whether Simbu will be removed from Naigar Sangam. All we would say is ‘we will not and we cannot’. For that matter, no actor can be removed like that as there’s no provision in the law,” he said.
“We discussed some 30 points at the meeting, including the creation of database for all the members, cancellation of SPI Cinemas agreement and construction of the new building”, said association president Nasser. He also revealed that Sarath Kumar, former president of SIAA, has not submitted the statement of accounts of the sangam for the last two years.
