They did not have data on the conversions. “The outfit will launch its first one-day token fast at Manali, North Chennai, on Sunday and more such protests will be held,” said Manali Manohar, organiser of the fast.
“Periodic campaigns are conducted among Hindus insisting them to embrace other religions. New buildings are constructed for religious purposes without obtaining necessary government permission”, alleged Hindu Munnai founder Ramagopalan.. “We are raking up this issue. The situation is such that a residential area called Manjambakkam at Madhavaram is now promoted as Asirvatha colony in social media”, he alleged. The local residents are irked over such a move and have volunteered to take part in a meeting followed by token fast, he said. When contacted, a senior district official admitted that a complaint has been received. “Since it is a sensitive issue, the complaint has been forwarded to the local police and revenue departments seeking a detailed report”.
Madhavaram milk colony inspector R Sundaram, when contacted, said, “Fast or protest will not be entertained in any public place.
