Groups come forward to tutor flood hit students

Chennai: P. Sanjana, a class 10 student in T. Nagar school been constantly juggling classes, extra-classes and tuitions to study well, and make sure she does well in the fast-approaching exams.
She said: “Syllabus of every subject except Tamil, is pending by one or two lessons. We have to attend tuition, write records, and prepare for exams. I am nervous.”
Sanjana is one among many students who have been affected by the floods that brought the city to a standstill. In order to help students who need help in preparing for exams, engineering professors from Rajalakshmi College are conducting free coaching for students of class 12 who need help in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Sathish Kumar, a class 10 student, is using Mintbook’s help in preparing for exams. He said: “The classes have been very useful. They teach in English and Tamil, and in a manner which is very easy to follow.”
“I have been attending the classes for three days now. The classes are helping clear the queries I have,” he added. Mintbook, a Bangalore-based online book reading platform, is organising teleconference coaching for students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Math.
To help students who don’t find help easily, sexagenarian Prof Chandrasekhar and his wife C. Vijayalakshmi, are distributing donated books, and conducting classes for English and MBA students over the weekends.
