Ajay is an actor's director: Sayesha Saigal

Sayesha Saigal talks about her debut Hindi film Shivay, her equation with Salman Khan and yes, what went wrong with her T’wood debut Akhil.
Sayesha Saigal, the grand-niece of yesteryear actress Saira Banu, is excited about her debut in Bollywood with actor-director Ajay Devgn in his forthcoming film Shivay. Sayesha who made her Tollywood debut with Akhil, says the film could have been much better.
“I think there should have been a few more emotional and meaningful sequences between the couple. The couple looked beautiful but they hardly had any romantic sequences. The boy does not even say, ‘I love you’ to the girl. Also, the content needed to be a little more meaningful I suppose. A little focus on the couple could have brought in more youngsters to the theatres. In the absence of romance the chemistry between the couple was missing too.”
And even now, post her debut, Sayesha is having a great run. “I am impatiently waiting for Shivay. I am so happy that Ajay Devgn offered me his debut film as director. It is a matter of pride for me. I auditioned for the film and passed with flying colours. We have finished two schedules. Our first schedule was completed in Mussoorie and our second schedule will get done at in Hyderabad. I will be flying back to Mumbai to attend Salman Khan’s 50th birthday party. Salman personally invited me.” Talking about Salman, she says she was 16 when she first met him. “He had told me, ‘You will become an actor… you seem to have all the potential of being a good performer’. At that point I thought that he may have told me so only because of my height… I was very tall for my age. But today when I look back and ponder about those words I feel that he was so right,” she says.
“Working in films is very important for me, whether Bollywood or Tollywood. I want to be part of good films.” Sayesha adds, “I have no problem talking in Telugu. I have learnt to converse in the language and I love it. For my shoot in Hyderabad, my entire team is from the city, this has helped me speak Telugu more efficiently. In fact, I dream of working with Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli garu,” she adds.
And even though she’s doing great for herself, she does believe that she has a long way to go. “I have to work very hard and I have a lot more to achieve. I am trying to give in my hundred per cent for Shivay. Being directed by Ajay as well acting opposite him, I have learnt that Ajay is an actor’s director. He is very clear as to what he wants from his actors. The script is new, it is not a remake of a Tollywood film as some people have been saying.”
About her future films she says, “I have three B’wood films. But my next film is a Tollywood one. I am open to both Tollywood and Bollywood films.”
