January:

 

Ghayal Once Again: The father-son team of Dharmendra and Sunny Deol are back! This film will also star a whopping four newcomers. The project has faced delays due to VFX issues.

Release date: January 15

Airlift: Based on the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the Iraq invasion, the film stars Akshay in the lead role (doing a Liam Neeson from Schindler’s List). The project is being directed by Raja Krishna Menon.

Neerja: Based on the tragic life of hero airhostess Neerja Bhanot, who was shot dead by terrorists while she tried to protect her passengers. Sonam Kapoor plays the lead and she looks spot on!

Jai Gangaajal: Priyanka Chopra plays baddie-hurting cop in this action flick directed by Prakash Jha. Priyanka was so keen on this movie she shuttled between Bhopal and Los Angeles — where she was shooting for Quantico.

Ka and Ki: Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor play a married couple in this family drama written and directed by R. Balki .

Azhar: Emraan Hashmi pulls his collar up to play Mohd Azharuddin. The actor has been putting in 10 hours of cricket practice and is being trained by Azhar himself! The
project is directed by Tony D’Souza.

Housefull 3: The third in the franchise. Directed by Sajid-Farhad and not by Sajid Khan who directed the first two parts (phew), it stars Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandes, Lisa Haydon and Riteish Deshmukh.

Raees: SRK brings out the dark side in this thriller directed by Rahul Dholakia. The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan. It tells the story of a bootlegger (SRK) whose business is challenged by the law.

Sultan: The other wrestler movie. Salman Khan will go head-to-head with Shah Rukh’s Raees (both movies are actually releasing on the same day).

Mohenjodaro: Hrithik returns with Ashutosh Gowariker. This film will take us back a reported 5,000 years (has B’wood gone that far?) to the Indus Valley civilisation.

Rock On 2: It’s bringing the band back. The only new face, opposite Farhan Akhtar, is Shraddha Kapoor, who has sung a total of three songs for the film.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: KJo has roped in Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma for a film shot across  in London, Vienna and other European cities. This will also be Johar’s first film with Aishwarya Rai.

Dangal: Aamir Khan plays wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat the sport. Geeta became India’s first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
