BJP has no right to speak about Nehru: Mallikarjun Kharge
Mr Kharge said, BJP has been dragging Mr Rahul’s name into every issue.
Bengaluru: Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said people who don't believe in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's philosophy and legacy have no right to talk about him.
Taking a dig at Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for blaming the Congress for disrupting the proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha recently, he said the BJP led NDA government did not celebrate the country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s 125th birth anniversary in a befitting manner. So, such people have no right to take Nehru’s name and legacy, he said.
On Mr Jaitley’s criticism of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he held the saffron party indirectly responsible for the rise of Mr Kejriwal. “I don't want to say any more about it,” he said.
About the BJP's accusation there was a competition between AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Delhi CM Kejriwal to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Kharge said of late, the BJP has been dragging Mr Rahul’s name into every issue. The problem is that these days, Mr Rahul may be appearing in their dreams frequently, he quipped.
Mr Kharge refused to react when asked about BJP’s Margadarshak Mandal seeking a probe against Mr Jaitley on the DDCA row in the wake of suspension of party MP Kirti Azad. However, he said even the Congress party wanted an inquiry into the issues that had been brought to the fore by Mr Azad.
