Kochi: Kochi-based RTI activists have launched a website to help the public to prepare a proper RTI query on a fee. The move is to end the practice of government officials declining the application on flimsy grounds. The service charge for basic service is Rs 99 and a detailed RTI query Rs 199.
The website rtionline.in was launched on Thursday. The site deals with all kinds of RTI queries, and the users can make payment and post specific questions.
The activists running the site will manually prepare the questionnaire and send it to the concerned government department.
The reply will be sent to the applicant's address. "We are only charging a nominal fee. It includes the DTP and postal charges," said Mahesh Vijayan and Dhanaraj Subhash Chandran, the duo behind the initiative.
