Carving magic out of wax for X-mas
Bengaluru: The Christmas season is in full swing and Christmas decorations are selling like hot cakes. Baubles, snowflakes, stockings and wreaths have made way for more innovative ideas.
Ms Veena Gangadhar, a resident of Hebbal, Bengaluru has been making ‘cut and curl’ candles for Christmas from the past year. She learnt the art herself by watching videos on YouTube. Ms Veena sources her material from Mumbai and Raja Market, Bengaluru.
All the candles are handmade and done by her at home. Each of the candles is unique and they are made in a variety of colours. They are made in varied sizes too and are priced accordingly.
The prices range from Rs 450-500 for a small one and Rs 600- 800 for the bigger ones. She makes the candles on receiving order and takes both bulk orders as well as orders from individuals.
Churches place mass orders for the candles during Christmas time. It is also a popular gifting option, she adds.
