Former Olympian cyclist Suprabhat Chakrabarty no more

He represented India in first edition of Asian Games (1951), Olympics (1952)

Kolkata: Former Olympian cyclist Suprabhat Chakrabarty passed away this morning following a heart attack, according to a statement.

He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

The five-time national champion Chakrabarty, fondly known as 'Khaja' in cycling community, was one of the vital members of the national squad that took part in the first edition of Asian Games in 1951 in Delhi, 1952 Olympics in Helsinki and World Peace Race the same year.

He also represented India in various meets, Calcutta Sports Journalists' Club stated in a release condoling the 86-year-old's demise.
