Trump moment: That’s a bit rich, Mr Kheny
BENGALURU: Has Bengaluru the dubious distinction of having its very own Donald Trump in Ashok Kheny?
In a move that mimics the controversial American tycoon and Republican presidential hopeful, Mr Kheny, MLA of Bidar South and managing director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) on Wednesday snapped at a journalist when he was asked "Why haven't you paid the penalty."
A clearly irritated Mr Kheny pulled out a wad of Rs 500 notes and told the journalist "Clear the penalty on my behalf''
Kheny was served a notice by the government to pay up '580 crore as penalty after a House Committee probing the NICE project accused his firm of illegal mining and quarrying in the land owned by NICE, abutting the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC). Mr Kheny has denied any role in illegal mining activity.
