Chain-snatchers strike again in Hyderabad, loot 12 tolas of gold
Hyderabad: Chain-snatchers struck repeatedly in the city again, as two women were relieved of their gold ornaments in Rajendranagar area Wednesday, while another woman was targeted the previous night in Kushaiguda.
The victims lost altogether about 12 tolas of gold. The series of snatchings came even as police is on high alert and arrested members of a notorious interstate chain-snatching gang, recovering 2.25 kg of gold from them a day ago.
The first incident happened in Hyderguda area. Laxmi bai, 65, a housewife from Rajapushpa apartment complex in Laxminagar colony was returning from a temple to her home by foot. When she was about 100 metres away from her home, two bikers came in from the opposite direction. “They parked the bike behind her. The pillion rider got down, walked up to her and snatched her gold chain weighing around six tolas. In a jiffy, he got on to the bike and the two men drove away,” said Rajendranagar inspector V. Umender.
In the second incident, a 38-year housewife was relieved of a part of her three-tola gold chain in Langarhouz area while she was standing in front of her house around 8.30am. In another incident, a 39-year-old housewife in Moulali Housing Board colony was relieved of her three-tola gold chain.
