Bengaluru: Segregated or not, this officer will haunt you

Mr Adnan Khalid, an angry resident, narrated the incident to Deccan Chronicle.
Bengaluru: It was a quarrelsome and filthy morning for the residents Raiyan Garden on 3rd Cross, Hutchins Road in Cooke Town after they found a BBMP health inspector tearing open garbage bags that had waste collected from the apartment over the last week and throwing it on the street and alleging that the residents had not been segregating waste.
The health inspector, identified as Ms Chitra, who is attached to Ward No. 59, not only created a ruckus, but also called a Hoysala team to the spot to settle the score with them.
It all started when Ms Chitra came near Raiyan Garden apartment along with pourakarmikas to collect the garbage around 9.30 am on Wednesday.
Mr Adnan Khalid, an angry resident, narrated the incident to Deccan Chronicle. “We, the residents of 3rd Cross, have been trying to educate and get the community engaged in segregating garbage. Last night after noticing that the BBMP had not collected the apartment's garbage for over a week, two residents got their hands dirty and sifted through the pile of garbage to segregate wet and dry waste till late Tuesday night, with the hope that at least then the garbage would be cleared by the authorities.” He said, "When Ms Chitra came to our area, she ripped open all the garbage bags and mixed the entire pile segregated by us, saying it had not been segregated. When we told her that it was all put in different piles and her action had, in fact, mixed it all up, she told the pourakarmikas to leave the garbage pile as it was and to move on," Mr Khalid said.
"It was unacceptable that the health inspector, who is a public servant, emptied the entire garbage and left the rotten mess with maggots and putrefying wet waste all over the floor. When we questioned her, she pretended to be busy on the phone and then threatened to call the Hoysala to the spot," he said.
"We were left with no other option but recollect and re-segregate the spilled garbage. Another BBMP officer, Prakash, came to our help and tried to resolve the situation. But Ms Chitra started shouting at him and the other BBMP workers for helping us in clearing the garbage. She also called the Hoyasala," Mr Khalid alleged.
