Chennai: Students suspended for sexual ragging
Chennai: A first year ESIC medical college, KK Nagar student was reportedly ragged and forced to perform sexual acts by 10 seniors. The parents of the student lodged a complaint with the Dean of the college on Tuesday and the second year students involved in the incident have been suspended for three months.
According to a student, who wishes not to be identified, the seniors forced a first year student to remove the trousers of another student and perform oral sex. “He was a day scholar and was called by these students to the hostel. He complied the first time he was asked to do it and went home. He did not tell his parents as he thought it was a customary
ragging which was very gruesome. But when he was asked to do the same next day he informed his parents,” he said. The student also revealed, “It was not just him, two more first year students had been a victim of such a horrendous act. But they didn’t complain.”
Another student, requesting anonymity, said the boy’s parents asked the warden of the hostel to look into the matter. “The hostel warden was unaware of the incident. Only after the complaint was made did the rest of the hostel students including the warden come to know,” he said.
