The deceased, Sripathy alias Appi (45), had been attacked fatally by Anand, a notorious rowdy.

Bengaluru: A real estate agent, who was attacked by a notorious rowdy four months ago, died at Manipal Hospital on Monday night.

The deceased, Sripathy alias Appi (45), had been attacked fatally by Anand, a notorious rowdy. Investigations revealed that Anand, who came out of jail, was involved in the real estate business in July and had also made threat calls to wealthy people demanding money. On August 2, Anand and his associates, who were armed with lethal weapons, waylaid Sripathy and attacked him before fleeing the spot.

“Sripathy, who had suffered major injuries on his head and hand, slipped into a coma. He was fighting for his life all these months,” a police officer said.

“Anand, a notorious criminal, has many cases in Bengaluru, Chitradurga and other places. Anand, a resident of Shivapura, had entered into a business deal with Sripathy, but they fell apart after developing some difference. They were also involved in BBMP election campaign for two different candidates from the same ward. Sripathy, too, was involved in a few criminal cases.”

Anand has been arrested by the police. He had walked out of jail on parole, saying that he wanted to help his sister, who is suffering from health issues. Police have booked a case under IPC 303 (Punishment for murder by a life convict).
