Panel hints complaint against jail chief baseless; report soon

A committee headed by Kannur women jail superintendent led the inquiry based on the complaint registered.
KOZHIKODE: The committee in charge of inquiring and collecting evidence on the women assistant jail superintendent’s complaint against the Kozhikode district jail superintendent Ajaykumar Purushothaman recorded explanations from both the complainant and the alleged accused on Tuesday.
A committee headed by Kannur women jail superintendent led the inquiry based on the complaint registered.
According to the Jail DIG (North), the Kannur jail superintendent has already recorded the versions of both the officials and is yet to get a detailed inquiry report from the superintendent.
“Only after scanning the report that we will be able to come to a conclusion on the case. However, it is learnt that the preliminary inquiry has revealed the complaint as being baseless. Before New Year we will be able to bring out the result on the complaint,” he added.
It was during the visit of jail DGP Rishi Raj Singh to the Kozhikode district jail, that the woman staff member of the district jail filed a complaint against the jail superintendent accusing him of harassment at the work place. Based on the complaint, the jail DGP directed the North DIG to inquire into the case and submit the report.
During the last three days, the district jail superintendent Ajay-kumar Purushothaman has been receiving death threat calls to the office phone from an unknown number. Based on the threat, a case was filed at Kasaba station.
