Mobile to boost business hugely: Google evangelist
Opportunities to experiment are open for individuals and business groups
KOZHIKODE: Mobile phones have opened up exciting opportunities for people and businesses across the globe, opined Google Chief Evangelist- Bran Marketing Gopi Kallayil.
During an interaction programme organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CCI) here on Tuesday, Mr Kallayil said that the mobile phone was providing a diverse opportunity to experiment freely with ideas not just for business groups, but also for individuals.
“Millions of mobile applications have been developed for a wide range of use. That itself brings a lot of business opportunity. The world is changing very fast these days and all the technological advancements we are seeing right now is just the tip of the iceberg. In the next five to ten years, lots of amazing things are going to happen,” he said.
Citing the example of singer Adele who shattered countless sales records, Mr Kallayil said that the singer became successful with the help of applications like YouTube where many millions watched her songs.
“Such opportunities were not there for Michael Jackson or K.J Yesudas and this happened only because of advancements in technology. Applications are also helping business establishments to create a good relation with customers and also to change themselves to suit customer behaviour,” he said.
He added that on an average a person checks his phone 170 times a day and half of the videos being uploaded on the internet were being watched via mobile phones.
Gopi Kallayil in his prior roles worked as chief evangelist for Google+, led the marketing team for the Company’s flagship advertising product, AdWords, in the Americas and Asia Pacific, and the marketing team for AdSense, Google’s publisher-facing product.
