Bandaru Dattatreya vows Rs 200 crore for MMTS
He told South Central Railway officials to complete the project by December 2017.
Hyderabad: Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya said he would move the Centre to allocate at least Rs 200 crore for MMTS Phase-II in the ensuing Rail Budget.
He told South Central Railway officials to complete the project by December 2017. “At least one section of MMTS Phase-II should be thrown open for travel,” he said. Work is apace on three sectors of MMTS-II, Bolaram-Medchal, Secunderabad-Ghat-kesar and Falaknuma-Umdanagar.
“The Phase-II is pending for 12 years and earlier governments had not given any funds,” he said.
The total cost of the MMTS Phase-II is Rs 820 crore, including Rs 150 crore for rail coaches. The Centre had given Rs 120 crore in the previous Budget, and the state government had contributed Rs 60 crore.
He also stressed the need for the state government to take up widening of the approach roads to MMTS stations and provide feeder buses.
