Agri Gold probe report vague: Hyderabad High Court

Bench seeks more details.
Hyderabad: Expressing dissatisfaction at the report submitted by the investigating agency in the Agri Gold deposits scam, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed AP state CID to file an affidavit with complete details with regard to the probe carried out so far in the case. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt was dealing with petitions by the Telangana Agri Gold Customers and Agents’ Welfare Association, represented by its president A. Ramesh Babu and others, seeking either a CBI or ED probe into the scam.
It may be recalled that on Monday, the bench directed AP counsel to file a report by Tuesday explaining the steps taken by the investigation officer in the case during the past 1.5 months, including of how many witnesses were examined and arrests made so far. Following this, additional AG Dammalapali Srinivas submitted the report to the court on Tuesday.
The bench, after perusing the report, pointed out that it was vague and refused to accept it.
Ravi Prasad, counsel for the three-member committee headed by a retired High Court judge to oversee the auction of properties, submitted that the committee would meet in a day or two to take a final decision on the firms which have come forward to e-auction the properties.
Shift Gangi to jail in TS, wife urges HC:
Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday granted time to the AP government to file a counter affidavit on plea by Malavika, wife of Gangi Reddy, alleged red sanders smuggler seeking to shift her husband from Kadapa prison to any other jail in Hyderabad or TS.
The judge asked whether it was possible to shift a prisoner from a jail of one state to a prison of another state.
Petitioner’s counsel V. Raghunath said that the prisoner faced threat to his life. A-G P. Venugopal said that this was only an apprehension, and security was very tight in Kadapa jail. The judge adjourned the case hearing to December 30.
