Urdu trained teachers ask for separate DSC

Seek implementation of Right to Education in Urdu medium schools.
Karimnagar: Nearly 10,000 trained Urdu teachers seek a special district selection committee (DSC) for recruiting teachers, as announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Legislative Assembly in the past. Currently, they are working in private schools on meagre salaries. They state that many schools do not have adequate Urdu teachers. As a result, the institutions are unable to complete the syllabus, as seen in the deteriorating performance of Urdu medium students when compared to their counterparts of Telugu medium schools.
Several hundreds of youths, belonging to Muslim religion, pursued Diploma in Education (D. Ed) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in order to venture into teaching. Some of them even completed Master of Education (M.Ed). Unlike qualified teachers of Telugu and English languages, they are unable to secure posts of teachers in Urdu medium government-run schools as successive governments are not conducting special DSC for this language’s faculty from nearly two decades.
According to information provided by Telan-gana Urdu Trained Teachers Association (TUTTA), Karimnagar district unit, a separate DSC was held during the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s regime in 1997. This means, those who have a course have been awaiting notification of DSC since the past 18 years. Syed Muthariuddun, district president of TUTTA, urged Mr Chandrasekhar Rao to fulfil his promise made to Urdu trained teachers during a session of Legislative Assembly, at the earliest as they pinned many hopes on him. He regretted that the qualified teachers were forced to work in private schools at comparatively lower salaries. He stated that over 500 teachers can be found in district and Telangana state has about 10,000 teachers.
Members of this association demand that there should not be any reservations at the time of recruiting Urdu teachers. They wanted the government to fill all of the vacant posts in order to provide scope of employment to these teachers and to ensure quality teaching in the schools. They alleged that district education authorities were misleading state government by providing false information over position of vacant posts. They seek implementation of Right to Education Act in Urdu medium schools.
