Narendra Dabholkar award for Periyar study circle

Thiruvananthapuram: Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle of IIT Chennai has been selected for the third Dr Narendra Dabholkar memorial award.

The award carries Rs 25,000 cash and a citation. The prize would be given away by Dr Hamid Narendra Dabholkar, son Dabolkhar. Hamid is actively involved in the activities of

Superstition Eradication Committee along with others to carry forward his father’s relentless fight against social evils.

The award would be given away at the annual meet of free thinkers, rationalists and humanists at Vylopilli Samskriti Bhavan on December 25 at 11.45 am.

This was disclosed by office bearers of Free Thinkers Forum at a press conference here. They said the growing superstition and irrational outlook would adversely affect the thinking of future generations.

They said such wrong tendencies in the society could be resisted only through relentless campaigns and by creating scientific temper among the youth.

Free Thinkers Forum is a platform for promoting scientific temperament and human values among the society. The press conference was attended by Prof C Ravichandran and Muhammad Khan, vice president Kerala Free Thinkers Forum.
