Kozhikode District Jail chief gets death threat calls

The caller also used abusive language on the women staff of the Jail who attended the call.
KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode District Jail Superintendent Ajaykumar Purushothaman received death threat calls to the office phone from an unknown number during the last three days.
The caller also used abusive language on the women staff of the Jail who attended the call. Based on the complaint given by the Jail Superintendent, Kasaba Police has registered a case. The call came to the District Jail Control Room number.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the Jail Superintendent said that he suspected the people who were behind the alleged harassment complaint against him, were responsible for the calls.
“During the last three days, we are getting continuous calls threatening my life. The caller also used abusive language. With the details collected from the caller ID, we gave the complaint,” he said.
Last week, a woman staff of the District Jail had given a complaint to the Jail DGP Rishi Raj Singh against the Jail Superintendent accusing him of harassment at the work place.
However, it is learnt that the preliminary enquiry by the Jail DIG (North) revealed the complaint as being baseless.
The woman staffer complained after she got information that the Jail Superintendent had recommended action against her for breach of the code of conduct, according to sources.
Kasaba Police said that the details regarding the caller had been collected and a report would be filed in court.
