Chain snatching: 55-year-old suffers injuries on head

She fell down while her chain was being snatched.
Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman suffered head injuries when she fell down while her chain was being snatched by a motorcycle-borne duo on Monday. She was entering her house at Suryanagar Colony, Champapet, when the attack took place. Police said the chain snatchers attacked T. Manemma while she was returning home from a nearby store and snatched her six-tola gold chain. She fell down when the chain was pulled and injured her head and fractured a finger in her left hand. She was taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors administered six stitches on the injury.
According to reports, the duo shouting “Pakdo Pakdo” drove towards her on a red motorcycle and snatched her chain. According to witnesses, the snatchers were wearing masks. The rider had long hair and the pillion rider was not wearing footwear and had a white bandage tied to his left leg. The bike did not have a number plate. The chain snatchers managed to avoid two anti-snatching teams, one at Champapet and another at Doctor’s Colony, about a km from the spot. Police is verifying CCTV footage from nearby roads. “We suspect that locals are involved in this snatching. We are collecting the details of the persons who were released from prison recently.” said LB Nagar ACP P. Venugopal Rao
A few minutes earlier, 67-year-old A. Bharati was attacked at Santoshnagar and her four-tola gold chain was snatched by a motorcycle-borne gang. She fell down and suffered minor injuries on her elbow.
2 incidents in Karimnagar:
Two women who were out celebrating Mukkoti Ekadashi fell victims to chain-snatchers in the district. Karimnagar II Town police said miscreants snatched a two-tola gold chain from J. Sunita of Vidyanagar when she was heading to a temple nearby for the festival. The snatchers were travelling on a Pulsar bike.
In another incident, unidentified persons on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from Malla Rajavva when she was returning along with her husband from the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada.
Store-owner’s chain snatched:
An unidentified person snatched a two-tola gold chain from Kanaka Lakshmi, who runs a kirana store in Kannalabasti in Bellampalli on Monday. Police said the man came to the store and pretended to purchase a cigarette.
He snatched her chain and fled even as she shouted for help.
The police rushed to the spot and began investigations.
