Kakinada: Sea planes, helicopter trips, water sports and special tourism packages will entertain visitors and tourists at the Kakinada Beach Festival this time.
The East Godavari district administration is making efforts to attra-ct more tourists and make Beach Festival an enjoyable and exciting experience for the people. It will be held for three days from Janu-ary 9.
The state government has chalked out a plan for conducting nine different festivals like Vis-akha Utsav, Flamingo Festival, the ‘Kakinada Sagara Sambaralu’ (Ka-kinada Beach Festival) at Vakalapudi beach on Kakinada coast, and a ‘Prabhala Utsvav’ in Konaseema area in East Godavari district.
Kakinada Beach Fest-ival is being conducted on a grand scale for the past three years. The state government plans to organise the festival in a grander manner this time. Tourism officials and the district administration are jointly chalking out tourism packages to attract more visitors this time.
“Beach Festival is bei-ng organised with public and private partnership. Various committees would be formed for organising the prestigious event. In particular, we are concentrating on ground map and traffic management plans,’’ said district collector H. Arunkumar.
He asked municipal commissioner S. Aleem Basha, Kakinada revenue divisional officer B.R. Ambedkar and tourism officials to prepare an action plan for conducting the event in a grand manner.
According to sources, sea plane tourism is now available in Goa and Kerala. Tourism officials will hire sea planes for the three-day Beach Festival.
Helicopters trips have been organised during Pushkaralu. Officials want to make use of the services for the beach festival too. Hope Island and Coringa Mangroves will become special att-ractions for the beach festival.
Besides food courts with delicious items, a fashion show, kite show, flower show, handlooms and textiles show will be organised in the event.
Big aquariums, horses, camels etc are available for the festival. The collector said a short film would be shot and exhibited across the state for attracting people to the festival.
