Indians prefer Chennai for vacations
Metro tops the list of 10 most searched domestic destinations.
Chennai: Forget the enormous flooding in Chennai that had caught the attention of the nation and the world for wrong reason. The metro tops the list of 10 most searched domestic destinations, while Koh Samui in Thailand has emerged as the number one overseas choice.
According to a report by Hotels.com, Chennai was the most searched destination with 137 per cent searches, followed by Colva in Goa with 132 per cent searches. Bengaluru came third in the list with 111 per cent searches, followed by Arpora (94 per cent) and Candolim (76 per cent), both in Goa. So, probably, this would encourage people to participate in the year-end revelries with family by travelling to a few top-searched destinations.
The report, based on searches made on Hotels.com, from January-November this year for check-ins planned during December 24-28, claims that when it comes to overseas destinations, most Indians want to visit Koh Samui in Thailand, which topped the list with 92 per cent searches, followed by Hong Kong with 72 per cent searches.
Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur ranked third with 62 per cent searches, followed by Krabi Province in southern Thailand with its natural attractions such as white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, extensive coral reefs, caves and waterfalls, with 52 per cent searches. London, with 50 per cent searches, stood fifth in the top 10 list of destinations where Indians want to holiday during the year-end, a release said.
