India, Bangladesh to boost security, check smuggling across the border

A 23-member Indian delegation led by BSF director-general will travel to Dhaka.

New Delhi: In the backdrop of the recent close cooperation between India and Bangladesh with the handing over top insurgents, like Ulfa leader Anup Chetia, to India, both countries will now hold a high-level border dialogue next week to strengthen security-related cooperation and clamp down on illegal cattle smuggling among others across the over-4,000-km frontier the two neighbours share.

A 23-member Indian delegation led by BSF director-general D.K. Pathak will travel to Dhaka for the six-day bi-annual DG-level talks with their counterparts — the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) — and senior officials of their home department.
