Informal talks are on between party leaders and LDF on ‘comeback’.

KOLLAM: Trouble is brewing in the Kerala unit of the RSP with a few leaders holding informal meetings with LDF on the “possibilities” of a comeback.
After a section of party workers led by a state committee member joining the CPM, it was the turn of Kovoor Kunjumon MLA to held secret talks with CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran.
Over 300 RSP members led by Raghoothaman Pillai had joined the CPM the other day, protesting ‘the left party taking a right turn’.
Its defeat in the recent local body polls was believed to be the immediate provocation to switch sides.There were allegations that the Congress party ditched RSP candidates in the civic polls, the first after its crossover to the UDF.
“The state committee member who joined the CPM had suffered a blow from Perinad in the polls. This is apparently the reason for him to leave. He should have conveyed his views earlier, even before contesting with the support of UDF,” Mr Kunjumon told DC. He denied holding discussions with the CPI.
“The party has decided to hold a plenum within six months in which all the issues will be addressed. The issues have also raised anxiety within the Congress party. The RSP’s stance will be made clear in the plenum,” he said.
However, he said, if the party’s directive were to go back to the LDF, he would abstain as the party had contested in the local polls under the UDF banner.
Meanwhile, it is also understood that the LDF has offered the sitting seat of Kollam to Mr Kunjumon, who is annoyed at not being made the deputy speaker.
