Bengaluru: Woman jumps to death from Tipu’s Drop

She allegedly jumped to her death along with her son from Tipu’s Drop atop Nandi hills.
BENGALURU: A highly decomposed body of a 25-year-old woman, who had gone missing on Friday along with her two-year-old son, was found at the bottom of Nandi Hills on Saturday morning, after she allegedly jumped to her death along with her son from Tipu’s Drop atop Nandi hills.
After the police were informed about the incident, they rushed to the spot with rescue personnel, who began climbing down 2.5 km steep hill from Tipu's drop. After over 24 hours into the search operation, the police finally traced the woman’s body, identified as Prateeksha, a home maker residing in Bagepalli. Her son, identified as Sathvik, is yet to be traced and search operations will resume on Monday.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning, after a security guard deputed at Nandi Hills noticed a pair of slippers lying abandoned at Tippu atop and informed the police. The police reached the spot and informed Prateeksha’s parents, who on Friday had informed the Gauribidanur police that their daughter had gone missing. The police then had alerted their counterparts, including Chikkaballapura police.
Upon receiving a call on Saturday, Prateeksha’s parents rushed to the spot and identified her slippers, following which the police began the search operation.
According to the police, Prateeksha married Suman, a businessman three-and-half-years-ago, and the couple had one son. No missing complaint was filed by her husband.
After her father Nagaraj, also a businessman from Bagepalli, came to know about his daughter’s death he registered a complaint of dowry harassment against Suman. He alleged that Suman had been demanding dowry from Pratheeksha for long and used to harass her. After one such fight, Pratheeksha left home. He didn’t even bother filing a police complaint or check with her parents about her or his son,” police added.
“We are not sure if she had brought her son when she came to Nandi hills. There are no CCTV cameras at the entrance or anywhere, which could shed some light on this. We were unable to find the body anywhere,” said the poice.
The police are on the lookout of Suman, currently on the run.
